How my helping Spirits and I can help your animal: I will communicate with your animal, and give you a CD transcript of the communications. I will ask the compassionate spirits to diagnose the problem(s) and perform the necessary healing work. I will learn what you can do to help the animal. If your animal has died, I will make sure it is happily settled in the spirit world, and will communicate any messages he or she has for you, and you for them.

Magic is a fabulous dog that has passed on and now lives happily in the upper world. I have communicated with him several times for his person, and he is very funny! He gave me explicit instructions to give his person about his return. He will come to her in a dream and that way she would know to go look for a puppy. He told me what breed. Then he said when she was with the litter he would grab her shoe, then roll over and wiggle. That way she would know who he was. She should also look in the puppy's eyes and then she will be very sure!

What a session entails, and what to expect:

We can either set up an appointment for your session, or we can do it "flat fee" where I work you into my schedule. Appointments last typically 45-75 minutes and allow you to hear the session live, and ask immediate follow up questions. We begin with my learning your concerns, then I do the journey, then we discuss what we learned.

Flat fee sessions are just as powerful for both communication and healing, and don't require you to be "present". After receiving your e-mail or phone call with the details of your request, I set aside time to do the session. I find that animal's spirits are receptive to the communication regardless of what their bodies are doing (sleeping or playing and so forth).

When people ask me to do shamanic healing work for their animals there are two basic things I do. First, I journey to your animal and speak with it in non-ordinary reality. There I get impressions of the animal's past and let you know what his or her memories and current impressions are. In that journey I also enter the animal's body and see if there is pain or injury. I ask my spirit to heal the hurt and learn if there is any treatment that would be good for you to pursue. I record this communication journey on a CD (I'll speak what I receive out loud so that it gets recorded) and send it to you.

Second, I ask my helping spirits if the animal needs further help, such as a soul retrieval, power animal retrieval, or extraction. Soul retrievals and power animal retrievals are wonderful for animals. Often inexplicable behavior gets better after a soul retrieval. Sometimes the changes are dramatic, sometimes small. I will give you a written or verbal report of the soul retrieval, power animal retrieval or other work I do. I will describe the parts or spirits I bring back so, that you can reinforce the healing by reminding your animal of them in ordinary reality, and asking how your animal friend feels having the parts back. You may not believe your animal understands, but it will!

I will also let you know if anything should change in what you are doing with your animal. For example, one horse in Arizona reported to me that he was lonely and really wanted to be with the horses in the other paddock. He also showed me a precious colt at his side. After asking the owner if there were horses he was not turned out with, she said "Yes, I just separated him from a mare and her colt. They had been out together all summer." So she reunited them and the colt stuck to the client gelding like glue. A simple, and happy solution to a horse's sadness.

Shamanism and Animals

How does shamanism help domestic animals?
Like people, animals have helping spirits who give them power. I retrieve power animals for horses, pets and farm animals, so that they can be stronger of spirit and more powerful in their bodies. Animals often suffer soul loss as well, and require soul retrievals. And the spirits I works with often provide healing power and comfort to my animal clients. Most types of spiritual healings require my spirits and me to merge with and/or touch the animal. We do this in non-ordinary reality. Shamanism is also very helpful for aiding spirits progression from this world to "heaven" when they die. I can visit with deceased pets and find out how they are doing in their new home. This often gives the people left behind a sense of assurance that their beloved pet is in a happy place.(For more information browse the sections about shamanic healing.)

How does Carla communicate with animals?
I communicate with animals through the shamanic journey. I enter the shamanic state of consciousness, and visit with the animal in non-ordinary reality. There the animal can show me the place he lives, significant events in his past, places in his body where he hurts, the things he loves best about life (getting petted or groomed, being with a favorite friend, playing frisbee are popular answers) and so forth.

I prefer to enter a shamanic state of consciousness to communicate with animals because the impressions I receive are clear and focused, and because I rarely do just communication work. Almost always the work involves spiritual healing, and I do that work when in the shamanic state of consciousness. I can concentrate in the journey and accomplish many things. Afterwards we can talk on the phone and if you have further questions or messages for your animal, I can often chek in with them right then.

Connecting with those who have passed on:

A loved one's death can be a most sorrowful and heart-wrenching event. It helps to contact the animal or person and learn what its new world is like and make sure he or she is doing OK. It is also nice to hear soothing messages from the loved one and to learn if he or she has plans to come back and live with you again. Animals also have the capacity to heal and can come back with me to help make things better in the households they have left. (Of course, the animal returns to its new home at the end of the session.) This can be especially important for helping the other animals in the household who grieve the loss.

A Shaman also performs another critical function with regard to helping souls who have died. Sometimes when an animal or person dies suddenly, unexpectedly, or traumatically, the soul doesn't know it is dead, and it remains here rather than moving on to the light. This can be a problem for the soul and for us here in ordinary reality. Ghosts are often these lost wandering souls. (Sometimes too a soul stays here for a while before moving on, to comfort the ones it is leaving, or to just get used to the idea of being dead. This is generally not a problem, and the soul will move on when it is ready.) As a Shamanic practitioner one of my "jobs" is to journey to these lost souls. My spirits and I help them understand they are dead, and help them move to the light where they will find peace and healing.

This work is called "Psycopomp" and is very important. Many animals that have suffered truamtic or untimely deaths do pass into the light without a problem. But occasionally they get stuck. If you believe an animal of yours may be stuck I can easily determine if that is so, then escort the animal to the light, and share messages between it and you. That way the animal can heal, and when ready, reincarnate.

Dear Carla, Part of what made it difficult to let go of Jazz was the memory of her suffering and feeling like I'd abandoned her at the hospital. But these opressive feelings of guilt and remorse and pain were lifted after your reading and before I even received the cd in the mail. As for your finding that Jazz is spending her time laughing endlessly with the spirit of laughter, how wonderful, and how appropriate. She was ALWAYS ready for a good laugh!

Past life connections:

Often the animals and people in our lives have been with us before. We feel the sense of history, but we have trouble seeing exactly what it is. And the behaviors we exhibit toward each other can be the result of past life activities. When it is important to the issues at hand I can see the past lives and understand how they impact the current situation. My spirits and I can also perform healing on the past and current realtionships to help things go better today.
